Role:
As the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you will be responsible for overseeing our data protection strategies, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, and managing responses to data breaches. You will play a key role in safeguarding personal and sensitive information across our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Data Protection Strategies: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data protection strategies and policies that comply with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
- Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Lead and coordinate data privacy impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks associated with data processing activities.
- Manage Data Breach Responses: Coordinate and manage responses to data breaches, including investigation, notification, and remediation efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Develop Training and Awareness Programs: Create and deliver training programs to educate employees on data protection policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Act as a Point of Contact: Serve as the main point of contact for data protection inquiries from individuals, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain Records: Oversee the maintenance of data protection records and documentation to support compliance and reporting activities.
- Stay Informed: Keep up to date with developments in data protection laws, industry standards, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement of data protection measures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a data protection or privacy role, with a deep understanding of data protection laws and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced certifications or degrees are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience conducting data privacy impact assessments and managing data breach responses.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex data protection concepts to various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Reporting Line:
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), ensuring that data protection practices are integrated into the organization’s overall security strategy.
