CAISE Maintenance & CPE Policy

Last Updated August 1, 2024

Introduction: The CAISE Maintenance & CPE Policy is established to ensure that certified professionals remain current and proficient in the dynamic field of information security evaluation. By adhering to this policy, you will maintain the excellence associated with your CAISE certification, upholding the rigorous standards expected of industry leaders.

1.  Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Requirements:

  • Annual Requirement: To keep your CAISE certification active, you need to earn at least 20 CPE credits each year.
  • Three-Year Requirement: Over a three-year period, you’ll need to accumulate a total of 120 CPE credits.
  • Types of CPE Activities: Your CPE credits should come from activities like:
    • Technical Training: Attend courses, workshops, or seminars that enhance your skills in information or Artificial Intelligence security evaluation techniques, tools, and methodologies.
    • Professional Development: Participate in conferences, webinars, or self-study programs that focus on leadership, communication, and management within the field.
  • Record Keeping: Keep track of your CPE activities by saving certificates of attendance, event agendas, or any other relevant documentation. It’s a good idea to hang onto these records for at least five years.

2.  Adherence to the CAISE Code of Ethics:

  • As a CAISE-certified professional, you’re expected to follow the IAISP Code of Ethics, which emphasizes integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all your work.
  • If there’s ever a breach of these ethical standards, it could result in actions being taken against your certification, including possible suspension or revocation.

3.  Recertification Process:

  • Certification Validity: Your CAISE certification is valid for three years from the date you received it.
  • Recertification Application: To renew your certification, you’ll need to provide proof that you’ve met the CPE requirements and reaffirm your commitment to the CAISE Code of Ethics.
  • Recertification Fee: Recertification is free of charge if all requirements are met.
  • Recertification Kit: Upon successful recertification, you will receive a full recertification kit, which includes updated materials and resources to support your continued professional development.
  • If You Don’t Recertify: If you miss the deadline for recertification, your CAISE certification will lapse, and you’ll need to retake the exam to become certified again.

4.  CPE Audits:

  • Occasionally, IAISP may select your CPE records for an audit. If that happens, you’ll have 30 days to provide the necessary documentation.
  • Not responding to an audit or providing false information can lead to your certification being revoked.
