Role:
As a Forensics Investigator, you will be responsible for investigating security breaches and cybercrimes by collecting, analyzing, and preserving digital evidence. You will support legal investigations, provide detailed reports on findings, and work closely with other security and legal professionals to resolve complex incidents.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect Digital Evidence: Acquire and preserve digital evidence from various sources, including computers, mobile devices, network logs, and other digital storage media, ensuring that the evidence is handled according to legal and procedural standards.
  • Analyze Evidence: Perform in-depth analysis of digital evidence to identify the root cause of security breaches, uncover patterns of malicious activity, and determine the extent of the impact on the organization.
  • Support Legal Investigations: Collaborate with legal teams, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to support ongoing investigations. Provide expert testimony and documentation as needed to assist in legal proceedings.
  • Create Detailed Reports: Prepare comprehensive reports detailing the findings of forensic investigations, including evidence analysis, incident timelines, and recommendations for mitigating similar incidents in the future.
  • Incident Response: Assist in the response to security incidents by providing forensic analysis to help understand the nature and scope of the attack and support remediation efforts.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in digital forensics tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance investigative capabilities.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure proper documentation of all forensic procedures, evidence handling, and investigative activities to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in digital forensics or a similar role, with a strong understanding of forensic investigation techniques and tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced certifications or degrees are a plus.
  • Expertise in using forensic tools and software such as EnCase, FTK, X1, or similar, along with knowledge of forensic methodologies and evidence handling.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in investigating security breaches and cybercrimes, and the ability to identify and interpret digital evidence effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings clearly and provide expert testimony in legal contexts.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to digital forensics and evidence handling.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent are highly desirable.

Reporting Line:
The Forensics Investigator will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), providing critical insights and support for the organization’s incident response and investigation efforts.
