Last Updated August 1, 2024
Introduction: The TRAP Maintenance & CPE Policy is established to ensure that certified professionals remain current and proficient in the dynamic field of information security evaluation. By adhering to this policy, you will maintain the excellence associated with your TRAP certification, upholding the rigorous standards expected of industry leaders.
1. Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Requirements:
- Annual Requirement: To maintain your TRAP certification, you should earn at least 20 CPE credits each year.
- Three-Year Requirement: Over three years, you’ll need to accumulate 120 CPE
- Types of CPE Activities: Your CPE credits should come from activities such as:
- Technical Assessment Techniques: Engage in training, seminars, or workshops on emerging threats, assessment methods, and risk management practices.
- Professional Development: Participate in conferences, webinars, or courses that enhance your skills in leadership, decision-making, and communication.
- Record Keeping: Make sure to keep records of your CPE activities, like certificates or event agendas. It’s a good idea to keep these records for at least five years.
2. Adherence to the TRAP Code of Ethics:
- As a TRAP-certified professional, you’re expected to uphold the IAISP Code of Ethics, which promotes honesty, objectivity, and confidentiality in your work.
- Violating these ethical standards could lead to disciplinary actions, including the suspension or revocation of your TRAP certification.
3. Recertification Process:
- Certification Validity: Your TRAP certification is valid for three years from the date of issue.
- Recertification Application: To renew your certification, you’ll need to show that you’ve met the CPE requirements and reaffirm your commitment to the TRAP Code of Ethics.
- Recertification Fee: Recertification is free if all requirements are met.
- Recertification Kit: After successful recertification, you’ll receive a full kit with updated materials and resources to support your ongoing professional growth.
- If You Don’t Recertify: If you miss the recertification deadline, your TRAP certification will expire, and you’ll need to retake the exam to get certified again.
4. CPE Audits:
- IAISP might audit your CPE records from time to time. If you’re selected, you’ll need to provide the requested documentation within 30 days.
- Not complying with an audit or providing inaccurate information can result in the revocation of your certification.
